A question from Groundhog: Can you refuse breast cancer treatment?
I’m an author and I’m going to write a book about a woman who discovers herself and blah blah blah. The point is, she has breast cancer but she’s going to refuse treatment. I was wondering if, in America, you can do that? And what would be excepted? Would you be able to do things or would you be bedridden?
Best answer:
Answer by Denisedds Yes you can refuse anything you want primarily because this is America.
Cancer is a progressive disease so the symptoms get worse as the disease gets worse. The biggest problem with refusing breast cancer treatment is the unnecessary problems it causes you and those around you. The cancer will eventually break through the skin causing an ulcerated, oozing, unhealing, painful, bleeding area that enlarges over time and is so foul smelling you can smell it from 10-15 feet away.

Question posed by honeybots: Does taking tamoxifen for breast cancer treatment induce cancer of the uterus ?
What are the side effects of Tamoxifen ? What body organs are affected with cancer after having breast cancer before it reaches your uterus ?
The top answer:
Answer by creamfeather Its advised to take Tamoxifen for 5 years as a treatment for breast cancer. After that there is a small chance of cancer in the uterus occuring. No other body organs are affected by the Tamoxifen only the uterus.
If the breast cancer is hormone related, then Tamoxofen works by reducing the amount of oestrogen in your body, as the cancer cells feed on the eostrogen.
Why the Tamoxifen should affect the uterus after 5yrs Im not sure, except that it is hormone related.

Question posed by Luz1219: How do i raise money for my moms BREAST CANCER TREATMENT?? HELP?
On Friday afternoon i got a call from my sister and tld me my moms breast cancer screening came out positive. First i started to cry and then i began to worry about my parents finances my dad hasn’t worked for years due to being disabled at his former job and they have no medical insurance. I have decided to try to raise some money for her treatment, i just need some ideas and be pointed in the right direction.
My chosen answer:
Answer by A A For starters, I would check with the hospital she will getting treatment–sometimes they can help people who are unable to pay full price. If your parents are low income, they may qualify for medicaid or some other govt program, particularly since your father is disabled. You can call the Am Cancer Society 24/7 (1-800-227-2345) for list of national & local resources. Some drug companies can help with meds, some organizations can help with other costs. Sometimes there are transportation help, either through ACS or other organizations. It can take some searching, but help can be found.
As to fundraisers, if your parents are well known in their community, or are regulars at certain restaurants or businesses, and your parents are ok with it, you might ask them to hold a fundraiser dinner or something, with the tips or a percentage of profits going to your mom’s treatment. Good luck & my best wishes to your mom!!!
As cancer research continues to advance, new treatments are being developed to different types of cancer including breast cancer. Dr. Sara Kim talks about one of the new breast cancer treatments that is currently in trial and one of her patients undergoing treatment also shares her story of cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Breast cancer is curable in early stages of disease. Once advanced- this opportunity if lost. However, majority of women treated for breast cancer in India come to hospitals for treatment of their breast cancer, only when the disease has advanced. WHY??
Indian surgeons and oncologists have the capability to cure breast cancer, even without sacrificing the breast for that- as par with best hospitals and doctors in the world. However, with this kind of late stage presentation, the doctors feel frustated, and patients do not have as good chance of cure
“My wife had developed breast cancer last year and was on chemo. She lost her hair and everything. She got tired of it. The last test she took showed the cancer was beginning to spread. They said she needed to have her breast removed. She got scared. A friend of mine suggested I try your book. So I went online and bought a copy. I gave it to my wife and she took to heart everything in it. Within three weeks her hair began growing back. She went to have another test done and found her cancer gone. I owe you one.”
