The reason I ask is that my grandmother just got diagnoised with breast cancer and I have my nipples pierced will that increase my risks of getting breast cancer. I know that I’m at greater risk just for her having it but I wanted to know if nipple piercing will add to that or not?

why have nipples pierced i known women get infected breasts
No connection.
I have never heard of a connection between nipple piercing and breast cancer.
“I am aware of no evidence that nipple piercing increases the risk of breast cancer. Increased risk of infection, yes. Increased chance of damage to milk ducts that may affect future breastfeeding, yes. Increased risk of trauma (i.e., catching the nipple ring on something and tearing your nipple), yes. Social stigmatization, perhaps. But breast cancer — no.”
“Nipple piercing has grown to be very popular among men and women. Although there is a risk of infection associated with nipple piercing, there is no increased risk factor for breast cancer.”
Also, as a side note, if your grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer after she went through menopause, your risk of getting breast cancer yourself is only slightly raised. The only hereditary breast cancer is caused by the breast cancer gene, and not many people have that. Most family breast cancers are a coincidence, and not caused by the breast cancer gene.
This is a good site with some info on family history….
