Wanda GC asked:
I have been experiencing a severe burning sensation and sharp pain (like jabs) in an area of one breast. The area is warmer to the touch and it can get worse at night. It is not like premenstrual/ monthly pain. It has been present for about three weeks. I have had been diagnosed with cysts in both breast, can this be an infection or something more serious.

Usually breast cancer will be a lump you can feel and usually there is no pain associated with it.
No, breast cancer almost never has any pain as a symptom. You may be having a problem with a cyst, possibly bursting? Talk to your doctor,
probably. u should get it checked
why don’t you ask you’re Doctor.
The symptoms your describing could be a blood clot in all seriousness especially if the skin feels warm to the touch. Contact your doctor immediately this is not something to fool with.
Bursting cyst….
GO TO A DOCTOR
BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would think this might be a pulled muscle. However, for your own piece of mind go see a physician. There are no doctors on here giving out advice and when you are talking bout something this serious you need to see a physician.
Hope this helps.
Please see a doctor. None of us are qualified to really answer this.
I have had similar burning and sharp pains before. I also have cysts.
It could be an infection, muscle strain etc. But don’t fool around with it.
If you have had this for 3 weeks, its time to see a doctor. I am sure you will be fine, but not knowing is painful in its self. You will only worry, so get it checked out.
get checked!
but…
when the ******* hurt, it means the period is coming soon
I am not a doctor yet so I can’t diagnose your problem; however, I do feel that you need to give your doctor a call so that you can schedule another appointment. If the pain get to be unbearable you might need to call 911.
Probably an infection.
YES! YES! YES!
Breast cancer can be accompanied with pain. I had that kind!!!!
Do you have a lump?
You could have mastitis, but you are usually a nursing mother when that happens.
It’s high time to get to a female doctor, a gynecologist.
Don’t put it off. Why waste time?
I would see a doctor to see whats going on. Are you due for a period? That could also be a symptom of that. Your hormones can do wierd things to you.
I have had this before and it went away about 2 weeks. I did LOTS of research and read that breast cancer is marks itself by a painless lump in the breast.
Go to and type in breast cancer. Its got good info and signs and symptoms list.
Yes, could and can be. Go to the doctor.
MOST LIKELY TO BE THEY MITE B GETTING BIGGER or not
no its usually a lump with no pain i had to fight breast cancer
im no expert but it sounds like it may be an infection…did this new symptom happen after your last doctor visit..because if it did you may want to make another appointment to go again..and soon…
Usually a symptom for lung cancer would be a lump and severe pain. But not just because you have pain it doesent mean that you have lung cancer . But if I were you I should go to a doctor just to chek every thing is all right. Good Luck.
Wanda, Breast Cancer does not only come as a lump, it is not for anyone to diagnose on the computer. It should be talked about at your Dr office. We can only speculate and that will not help you. There’s more then one kind of breast cancer.
The symptoms are nothing to fool with, see your doctor ASAP. None of us on this forum are capable of diagnosing your problem, only a physician can give you correct answers and treatment. Please go.
Infection is a good possibility. Swollen lymph nodes can also be painful and warm to the touch. Breast cancer is characterized by a painless lump in the breast tissue. Usually a malignant lump is irregular in shape. I would advise you make an apt with your doctor. Three weeks is a good length of time, and if its not better by now, you might need treatment, but i don’t think you need to worry about cancer, you don’t have the signs or symptoms
First off, to the person who said there is no pain associated with breast cancer, thats false, there are different types of breast cancer and some with pain.
I have breast issues. Please please, go and see a doctor now. It could be anything, you really shouldn’t have waited this long. But don’t wait. Its better to be seen and know whats going on, instead of being told, “its ok, you’ll be fine” when it may or may not be very serious.
Good luck
Although most people diagnosed with breast cancer have felt no pain, it can be a symptom. Breast Cancer Care lists ‘constant pain – in one part of your breast or in your armpit’ as a symptom of possible breast cancer.
The pain you describe doesn’t sound like a breast cancer symptom, but you must get it checked out.
You don’t say how old you are, so it’s impossible to comment on whether this could be hormonal
See your doctor.
