I’ve had fibercystic breasts since I was in my early 20′s. I’ve always had this lump feeling in my left breast……..but they always check it and say it’s fine. It is a painful lump that is usually more painful closer to menstration. My grandma on my moms side got breast cancer at age 65, My mom had breast cancer at age 60. I’ve had 3 mammograms, one each year…….the first 2 coming out fine. This past week I had a mammorgram and an U/S of my breasts. Two days later (on a Saturday) I get this letter stating that my tests results came back abnormal. It was a certified letter. No call from my Dr. yet though. I am really worried. What is the next step? I mean besides calling my Dr on Monday. I would have rather gotten a call from her instead of this letter first……..It doesnt seem right. Do all hospitals send these letters to patients before the Dr. can even get the results? I am so scared.

Its weird that they didnt call you. Just because it abnormal doesnt mean cancer dont worry until you talk to your doctor.
no. my sister had the exact same thing. it will go away. its no big deal. but she goes for check ups evey now and then.
i dunno my mom has that firbrocytsic thing though she always gets mamograms and then they always call us telling there is an abnormal grownth and that their gonna send it to a bigger hostpital to be tested for cancer or somthing…it always turns out shes ok…yea she has that lump on her **** that hurts too…
i always got a letter from the hospital screening first after my mammorgram, surley you doctor will explain the next steps to you on monday, if you need more treatment ,,, good luck
I agree that it doesn’t necessarily mean breast cancer. It could even be a reference to the abnormality you already know about.
It is so stupid that the hospital sent you this letter. I am angry on your behalf. The very least they could do is a phone call. The state of the health care industry is so sad. People aren’t treated like humans any more.
