The surgery to remove the cancer affects the ability of that breast to produce milk.
80% of women with breast cancer are over 50 so lactation really isn’t an issue for most.
One woman in my breast cancer support group (diagnosed very young) was able to have a child who she breast fed from her remaining breast without a problem.
