Grip asked: 10% of women aged 40 years old who get a mamography screening for breast cancer will receive a positive result. But only 1% of women in that group actually have breast cancer. Furthermore only 80% of those that have breast cancer receive a positive result on a mamography.
What is the probability of a 40 year old woman who receives a positive result of actually having breast cancer?

Kacey asked:
My grandmother is a healthy 65 yr old woman whom was diagnosed with breast cancer last week. After her tests were run they said it was in stage one. What is normal survival rate for stage one? Do most survive? Also breast cancer has never run in our family so what are the chances of my mother or myself, getting the cancer?
